I have to really be invested in the writing to care about plots that revolve around someone treating other people terribly for no discernable reason, and I wasn't invested enough to keep going with this one. I've read a lot of reviews and most seem to think there was a redemption arc and that it is worth continuing, but I could quickly tell this was going to be a slog for me.
