Redemptor by Jordan Ifueko

Rating: 4.7/5

Redemptor is a YA (young adult) fantasy sequel that takes on political and cultural conflicts. We see the characters of the previous book grow into adults, make sacrifices, find out about multiple types of love and sexuality. We also are taken on many rides and rollercoasters because Redemptor picks up right where we left off in Raybearer but takes us over the span of two years where Tarasai must anoint a Council of her own to appease the spirits of the dead, on top of figuring out how to stop the curse and death of children once going into the Underworld. This book had so much in it, and I thank Jordan Ifueko for writing such a rich book with wonderful world building even when she was feeling down/struggling with mental health herself. Another true YA fantasy that made me believe in the genre again and a great ending to a duology.
