First I will start by saying I really love how this author writes. The way she describes things and paints the images around her is beautiful.
That being said... I only enjoyed about the last 30 pages.

It was cool to hear all the fairy tales, the good and bad. The spinning of the story and the riddles in their words was a nice flex on the mind and kept me engaged. At some point though I realized that I had no idea what the hell I was reading. I couldn't tell if there was "magic" or the characters themselves were insane.
Which I guess that might be the point ? It's all about how each person perceives the world?

This just felt like mutual trauma dumping to form a relationship. I'm glad they had each other, but god damn ALL of these relationships were toxic.
Also… why was the nasty step dad thing even necessary? So much ick
