A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid

4.0

4.5/5 (honestly i might change it to a 5, we will see after I sleep on it.)

This book def should have a trigger warning for sexual assault/harassment/trauma.

I can't think of anything I really wanted the author to do differently in this book.
I love how Ava Reid writes. The eloquent way she used some form of water as an adjective for every description in the book made it flow so effortlessly. Maybe it was the vibes at the right time, maybe it was a good book, maybe it was both! I didn't want to ever put this book down.

Our fmc, Effy, was a complete twat at the beginning. I can appreciate character growth though. She accepted she was ignorant and a bigot at the beginning of the book and grew to understand and accept facts. She was also incredibly traumatized by men in general. A lot of Effy's behavior is signs of going through extreme trauma. I enjoyed watching her grow more confident and overcome her past.

Side note ALL OF THESE MEN ARE ICK

Preston is a perfect gold retriever, cinnamon roll, and I love him.
