Such a weird but beautiful book. I liked how we jumped between different residents of the Bottom, and how they all weaved together smoothly as the story went on. The magical elements felt like Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman, but even better. Loved the writing, of course - Toni Morrison is so skilled at creating a world and making characters feel so tangible. I wish I would have read this as a tween/teen!
Graphic: Murder and Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Infidelity and Racism
