I was expecting something twisted and violent, but I did not expect

the poor cat to die

!  That was the deal breaker for me.  Yes, I got the twisted main character and overall the incoherent story from a less-than-stable individual, but if you do that, you will automatically lose me - especially if it feels completely unnecessary, which this did.  This is a short book, and even before this happened, I was debating about DNFing.  It felt like nothing happened in the first half, and then in the second half, you rip my heart out for no reason. That being said, the underlying reasons for her mental state had a lot to do with infertility and a horrible ex.  Very realistic setting and everything, but just not what I was hoping for in a stalker novella.  I enjoyed Sims' writing and I will try other work by her, but I would not recommend this if you are sensitive to animal cruelty.
