I don't know if it's because it's a book based on death and the fact that I lost both my father and uncle around the same time I started this book and a combination that the author has an air of "I'm better than you" for using too big of words over and over again.

"Sotto voce" cool use that word like once and then say "soft voice" moving forward. You don't need it for everytime someone whispers.
