Little Rabbit by Alyssa Songsiridej
5.0
Little Rabbit follows a 30-year-old queer, biracial writer who enters a relationship with a 50-something choreographer she met at an artist residency. As their relationship progresses, they begin to experiment with light BDSM which both excites and worries the writer. She is overwhelmed by her strong desires of being claimed by a man and the pleasurable states of altered consciousness these experiences bring her. There is an interesting power dynamic at play between them which often makes her feel inferior and she worries about how they are perceived by her queer friends. This is a stunning novel about self-discovery, love, power, pleasure, friendship, privilege, and growing older. It is one of the most sensual and cerebral novels that I’ve ever read. The prose is sharp and concise and the characters were complex and well-drawn. I was completely immersed in their world. I gobbled this up and highly recommend if you enjoy introspective lit fiction and are comfortable reading about sex.
