Ella definitely suffers from “I’m not like other girls” syndrome, but by the end she’s grown quite a bit and seems to have been neatly cured of it. I wish she was aged up (she’s 15) so the bit at the end when Jed declares his love for her wasn’t so uncomfortable (he’s 25ish). It’s written off with wanting to “wait” a few months and at the end of the story they’ve never kissed or acted on their “love” but the age gap is still ridiculous. The story itself (with the exception of That bit) was pretty well written, and Ella is a believable character who’s just trying her best to start afloat. Definitely relatable.
Graphic: Confinement, Misogyny, and Classism
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Rape, Sexual assault, Violence, Pregnancy, and War
