The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik

5.0

I’m deeply in love with Novik’s writing. El and her gang of allies (aka friends) deal with the fallout of leaving the Scholomance, and things get a bit political and dicey with all the different Enclaves as things start to go wrong.

This was a fantastic ending to the series. And there were moments within it where I was like “so THAT’s why X acts like this”, “so THAT’s why this happens”, etc, which I think really points to how brilliantly crafted Novik’s stories are. I loved the plot, the characters, and the world building. I mentioned it in previous reviews, but I truly did love pretty much every character in this series (or even if I didn’t like the character, I liked what they brought to the story). Honestly there’s hot much in this book that isn’t great! Like if you made it to the third one, then obviously you don’t mind the occasionally long-winded or overly complicated magic system, so this was just a perfect little treat to end the series.

Engaging and fun, I recommend this to anyone that loves magic and great storytelling, and is willing to stick out a few moments that may be harder to follow.
