The Promises We Break by Berlin Wick
5.0
This was so hot, and emotional. Hudson was a smitten kitten from the beginning. And he dropped whatever amount of money for him and his buds to go to a male strip show in pursuit of ember? Love that for me.
Ember had all kinds of familial emotional baggage. And I figured it was blown out of proportion until we met said family. Awful, horrible people. So her baggage on love and relationships seemed very real to me as the reader. Oftentimes I feel like authors give a character a shitty family as genesis for making the path to true love difficult but just tell, not show. Because we were shown, I truly believed Ember as wasn’t annoyed by her insistence on “never relying on a man”.
Each of them kept some vital information from the other as their “arrangement” was ending. But - Ember realized her mistake relatively quickly and rectified it.
And this author knows hot to write beautiful and sexy spice.
