The strength to improve: Now that’s what I’m talking about!

This is the first book in the Supernatural Prison world spin-off and I must say I was blown away!

This is the story of Jessa’s twin sister, Mischa, a child raised in the human world and one of the Compass quads, the vampire Maximus.

We were first introduced to Mischa in the supernatural Prison trilogy and I had to say Mischa didn’t impress me. There were comparisons with her twin sister but I could always feel that there could be more to her, after all she was not used of that world. But within the original trilogy you could see her potential. And I’m glad that we got to see it come to fruition in this book.

Mischa is strong; I’m not talking about physical strength but mental and spiritual. She has been bullied, alone and unloved her whole life, even when she found the rest of her family those feelings were strong and hard to bypass as the two sides were stumbling about their relationships. But they found each other and more importantly Mischa found herself. She worked on her, saw the people around her that loved her and started standing at her own two feet and letting her real, beautiful nature and character come out and bond with the rest.

And Maximus did the same, pretty much all of them did. They understood their mistakes and worked extra hard to make it right. He acted like a duche and even though I understood some of the reasoning behind such behavior it was not something I would accept easily. He did make amends and showed his strong character along the way though.

And the action! Oh the action! Now that was something! Unlike the third part of the original trilogy this was packed! You could feel the evil seeping out of the pages and made you want to snatch a blade and go fight (Well I didn’t have a blade, only a hammer, but I’m sure that would do just fine).

I don’t have any really negative points to add. There was a point at the very end that I felt the pacing was kind of fast but nothing to irk me off that much. I had also noticed some repetitive action at some points, which lately seems to be going around a lot, like it’s going out of style or something. Lastly some behaviours and thoughts did break my heart and made me angry but I’m glad I got to saw them worked out.

A few unanswered questions were answered, some plot holes were tied up and a way has been set for the rest of the stories.

In the end I absolutely loved this. Another great, strong female (the male was already in the list since the original trilogy) character to add to my short list of favourites. I am extremely hopeful that by the end of this spin-off series everything will be tied up in this awesome-neat little bow. I can’t wait for the next books!!
