I finished reading this about a month ago (and failed to update my status). It's an interesting book. I read this because I enjoyed The Giver as an 8th grade student and felt like there was more to the story then just the first book.

I liked it and didn't like it. It was not the same dystopian novel that I remembered the Given being. This was more focus on magic and unexplained weirdness. I think the moral of the novel and the ideals were very apparent. I also felt like the writer was trying to show us, maybe a deeper meaning, but it was lost in a lot of questions.

Many things were not wrapped up, and while I understood what they stood for, it was not explained how they came to be, or why. The ending left me a but confused as well. I understood what happened and the reactions that came of what happened, but I'm not sure why it happened and that leaves me confused about the book.
