Peters is truly a master of her craft, I’ve not read anything like it. Such a keen, clear, sharp musing on motherhood, trans identity, queerness, and pretty much life itself? I felt challenged and I also saw myself, I know it’s not the point but this novel really gave me new avenues to parse through my own relationship with my gender. It was hard for me to get into and I took like 3 weeks just to get through it, but this book slowly unraveled itself around me in such a satisfying way, it will definitely be a favorite of the year.
