This book is a good introductory to the book of Esther if you’re unfamiliar or only casually familiar with the story of Esther or Persian and Jewish history. It didn’t go into the depth I would have liked and there were very few things I was not already familiar with, and few practical applications I had not already made. But I would recommend this companion for those reading the book of Esther for the first time.
For me, the largest frustration was the constant rabbit trails into personal illustrations, or historical/biblical illustrations outside of the purview book of Esther. The author rambled a good deal too much for my tastes, and the book would be quite thin if you cut out all the irrelevant material.
