This is a reread, my initial read being like 10 years ago. I gotta say I had great taste as a tween! This is just stellar story telling, like the reaping occurs HOW early in the book and we deeply care about everyone basically immediately?! How in the world. It is complex, compelling, and riveting from start to finish. I forgot about how important her dad and his loss was to Katniss’ character (as that’s not super touched on in the movies) and that detail really made this reread pop to me. God, it’s so good!
