Oh wow. This book was absolutely devastating. Kristin Hannah did a good job illustrating the horrors of war in a multifaceted way. The only reason I wouldn’t give it five stars is because I felt at some point she was just thinking of every terrible thing you can do to a human and wrote it in. The experiences she had during her tour to Vietnam would be enough to further the plot.
