Into the Woods by Jenny Holiday
funny
lighthearted
4.0
Holiday's writing is perfect for romances! We follow a brooding musician and a peppy dancer at a summer camp and get to watch them learn more about themselves and each other. I loved that we explored hard childhoods and how they can affect your motives and career choices going forward. I also like that they openly talked about the triggers it created, things like food scarcity triggers. I also loved that we got to see Teddy grow and work with the kids after writing them off so early. What held this back from being 5 stars for me was the friend group. I never really felt connected to them, even when we spent more time with them. I did love that the mfc was (almost) in her 40s. I loved seeing that there are still some my age that are still lost on their purpose, or pivoting that purpose.
Overall, this was a fun, light-hearted romance that still tackled some harder topics without overwhelming the reader. Seeing both our characters learn what they want and eventually going for it was great.
