A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik

3.0

3.5/5 I can't decide between 3 or 4 so we will see if I change it

I enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would.
First person point of view is so hard for me to get into. I feel like it always makes the character seem so whiney and naïve. This book, did it right. Once I got used to the overall flow of the writing and got to know the main character more it just worked.
It is a slow start..
The character is kind of a brat in the beginning but grew by the end

I enjoyed the magic system, the explanations, and the sheer darkness of it all. The author took the term deadly and committed to it.

I found myself kicking my feet and smiling by the end of the book. I am cheering for the characters and I'm so happy Galadriel has friends. I love that even though she is the "overpowered" main character, unlock other series this is a negative for her in most ways.

Honestly, a great dark academia read. Highly recommend if that is something you are looking for.

I really hope Orion Lake isn’t some test tube baby Mal and that’s why he can pull mana from killing other mals…
