I rated "Then She Was Gone" by Lisa Jewell a solid 5 stars! This psychological thriller captivated me from the start with its exploration of loss and the haunting nature of secrets. The story revolves around Laurel, a mother whose teenage daughter, Ellie, mysteriously disappears. A decade later, Laurel meets a charming man and his daughter, who strikingly resembles Ellie, reigniting her quest for answers.

Jewell's writing is both evocative and suspenseful, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The character development, especially Laurel's journey of healing, is relatable and deeply moving. I did not think the characters were lovable however due to the nature of the story but don’t let this put you off! It is supposed to make you feel weird and curious about everyone!

The pacing is perfect, with twists that are surprising yet satisfying, culminating in a gripping conclusion.

Overall, "Then She Was Gone" delivers a compelling mix of emotional depth and thrilling mystery, making it a must-read for any fan of the genre!
