“You don’t hide your pain from me. You don’t wait until I’m gone to show what you’re truly feeling. I’m with you. I’ll carry you. I’ll break with you. Whatever you need, it’s you and me now.”
Sorcery and Stagecraft is the first book of the Sorcery & Sacrifice series. All the books of the series can be read as a standalone, but the author recommends reading them in the order of publication.
The book is to in multiple pov - troupe performer Ricci, apprentice mage Callen & Fae herbalist Lela. I was equally excited to read about them all. The main characters were all well introduced.
I liked their individual storylines and also how their stories were intertwined with each other’s.
I liked how all the main characters made some mistakes but were able to grow and learn from those.
The world building was also well written and interesting. The storyline itself was captivating and well executed. There were some romantic elements in the story but no spice.
The storyline was mostly lighthearted & fun but there were some darker moments and elements too.
There were some questions left unanswered (especially about the ending) but those hopefully will be answered in the following books.
I do really recommend this book to anyone who is looking for easy to read, not spicy, plot driven romantasy book full of plot twists and lovable characters.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
