This short story moves very quickly and is very sad, though the story tries to make it more fantastical with the main character only ever depicted as an iguana. Apparently, this story is semi-autobiographical and was made to show the author's strained relationship with her mother. The mother in this manga appears to be suffering from a sort of post-partum psychosis and is convinced her first daughter is an iguana. This delusion doesn't extend to the second daughter, and as a result, the first daughter is treated poorly by the mother her entire life. The manga is clearly showing how the treatment of a parent can affect someone's entire mental psyche. The ending is also bittersweet, but a satisfying ending.
Graphic: Emotional abuse
Moderate: Death of parent
