I’m embarrassed to admit how much I liked this book, but by golly I liked it! Jude continues to navigate the world of faerie while trying to protect Oak and figure out where she stands with Cardan.
I found this book more entertaining than the first, but maybe that’s just because I’m more familiar with the characters and the world. This series is starting to feel like Twilight to me, in the sense that I find it impossibly easy to breeze through the books and I have an insatiable need to just keep reading, even while I recognize the story / writing isn’t super high-brow. I don’t care! I like faeries and I like people falling in love even if they’re too stubborn to admit it, and I like high stakes in that denial of love. It’s fun and I eat that shit up like candy. Can’t wait for the third.
