Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder

5.0

As a kid, I came back to this book every so often when I needed to break out of a book slump. I'd read a chapter or two and regain the capacity to venture into new reads again. The scene with the maple syrup candy always stuck with me, so much so that I tried to DIY my own maple Christmas candy with crushed ice (it didn't work). I had forgotten how much of this book is survival tips and tricks; pretty interesting! I think this helped shaped the way I see the world, and for that, I am forever thankful.
