Everyone Here Is Lying by Shari Lapena

4.0

After ‘The Couple Next Door’, I borrowed a bunch of this authors’ other titles from my libraries. Some I DNF’d due to boredom, but this one, I was sorta fascinated. While it’s not astounding writing or super original, it IS an interesting case-study almost, in the things people will believe, manufacture, convince themselves of, etc. when two things are true. The two things being:
They’re guilty of something themselves and paranoid.
They’re looking for reasons and/or people to blame and/or terrible outcomes.
For that reason, I did need to read this one all the way through.

I wouldn’t say I was on the edge of my seat by any means, but I did enjoy the way the author executed this one—very well played.

It was rather slow-paced, as is everything else I’ve read (or tried to read) by this author so far.

4 stars.
