I highly recommend this book. It combines a good historical sketch of the events as well as important information from the Mattaponi people's oral history.
It is a tragic tale though. It showcases a period of history that is shameful, as well as highlights the life of a girl who had very little control. But I thoroughly believe it should be read by everyone.
