The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

5.0

"he had nothing. then he had her, and the future was full of possibilities."

ok, i'm a simple bitch. if a book has a great and interesting plot, flawed but lovable characters, i'm set. this had those things and drama, scandal, a love triangle, a love lost, a revenge plot, and just a hint of magic. AND BITCH I ATE. THAT. SHIT. UP. this had a super slow start but when it picked up, IT PICKED UP GIRL. in this world, high society and status is everything, but nina is considered a freak because she's telekinetic. she falls in love with hector who is a famous telekinetic and has a history with her older cousin, valerie (who honestly ATE UP her role as the villainess). their story is MESSY but also genuine and sweet. the way they built an innocent friendship and worked through the many obstacles thrown their way and truly got to know each other then eventually fall in love was pure and genuine. omg the angst, the drama, the familial relationships...i devoured this book. also one thing miss silvia is going to do, is write a beautifully and lyrically. i tabbed so many quotes! absolutely loved this!

"a sea roared inside her and made demands, but she waded it, she bobbed up, took a breath, and opened her eyes to the cold winter morning. then she rose because the day was there, the world was there, and she wanted to be a part of it." BYE.
