DAMON FREAKING TORRANCE. I’ve been crushing on him hard since Corrupt, knowing his book would ruin me and it totally did. Is he a walking red flag? Yes. Did he do something horrible to Winter that he deserved to go to prison for? Yes. Did he spend a majority of this book being even more awful to her? Yes. Am I holding any of that against him? Hell no.

First of all, I want to address the driving scene. Because are you kidding me? One of the sweetest, most romantic things I’ve ever read. Giving her the confidence to drive and allowing her to take charge, even though she’s FUCKING BLIND? I was swooning. And him teaching her how colors felt… Oh god, I’m getting emotional thinking about it.

Also his relationship with all of his friends getting fixed, but especially with Will? First of all, I would read an entire book on Damon and Will’s friendship alone. (Especially those times “without the girls”.) They were just so cute together. Will freaking out during the lake scene and Damon seeing the trauma he caused, and promising him he would never leave him and he would never HAVE left him. He would have followed him after the Trevor thing. Oh gosh, I was crying. And then the scene that followed with them and Winter… *chef’s kiss*.

I really liked Winter. I don’t think I love her as much as Rika and Banks, but she was a different kind of badass fmc. She had insecurities when it came to her disability but ultimately she never let it control her life. And I loved later on when Damon made it a point to tell her he would never do anything without her, and that she wasn’t an inconvenience. She was a great partner and friend, and I really loved her story. I also loved when we find out at the end that she was the reason behind Damon’s coping mechanisms during the really rough parts of his life. They were so young when they met but she had that big of a positive impact on his life, and helping with his trauma.

I said in my reviews for the first two books of this series that I wasn’t getting “dark” romance vibes, but you totally see the darker stuff in this book. I loved Damon’s redemption arc, and I loved the many twists and turns this book went through.

I cannot wait to read Will’s book. I have a suspicion that he will be my favorite. I’ve had the softest spot for him since the beginning and I just know Nightfall will be an amazing read.

On the narration side, I definitely liked the audiobook a lot more for this book than Hideaway. It was the same narrators but the female narrator didn’t talk as fast so I didn’t have to keep changing the speed. I still didn’t 100% vibe with it but overall good.
