Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

5.0

I must admit, this series is one of the most intriguing series I've read in a while. I thought the first book was great and then I read this and. . .wow! I honestly just couldn't put it down. I admire Cassandra Clare's creative use of description and the development of her characters. She really is a champ when it comes to writing, especially when it comes to those with dramatic, romantic love triangles and intense plots that leave your spine tingling in anticipation. In fact, I must get my hands on the third book quickly because my desire to know what transpires next in this trilogy is very strong.

SOME MINOR SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT:

I was really cut between Jem and Will. I understood Tessa's choices and I'm not so sure I could have done any different if I had been in her shoes. At first, I wanted her to be with Will but Will was so terrible and rude to her. As a reader, it was difficult to not fall in love with Jem because he was so kind and moral and it made your heart melt. Consequently, we then learned a little bit more backstory on Will and discovered why he had been so terrible to Tessa and everybody else and caused conflict within me. You didn't want Jem's heart to be broken because he was so innocent and true (and how could you not love him?) but you pitied Will because he was also passionately in love with Tessa and at the same time, he couldn't love her. Imagine the pain he had gone through.

However, the noteworthy love triangle was not the entire entity of the book. While this whole love triangle thing was occurring as a sub-plot, Tessa still is battling with her betrayed feelings for her brother Nate and the ultimate need for the Shadowhunters to find the location of Mortmain as he continues to build his army of clockwork creatures and cause chaos amongst them all.

Honestly, if you haven't read this book, you are missing out!
