Dear Senthuran: A Black Spirit Memoir by Akwaeke Emezi
5.0
Powerful. Dense. Inhabited. Brutally honest. Fathoms deep. Strange. Magical. Difficult. Wild, in the way nature is: naturally. A vine will strangle; that's its nature. A beast will roar. A snake will slide and hiss, will bite. This is a memoir in letters neither you nor I could write... after all, we're not gods. There is much here about writing, about seeking yourself, about claiming yourself, about figuring out how to move through a strange world. But also about failure, about trust and betrayal, about staying and leaving (which are, really, life and death). Ache: both pain and desire.
