Beautiful, but disturbing. I have loved all of Tracy Chevalier's books, and I enjoyed this story but it wasn't my favourite. I think there were too many characters because most of them were very flat. I'm not entirely sure why a blue dress was crime enough to kill over, but I guess superstitions ran pretty high in that time?
