The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill

5.0

I am not exactly sure how I discovered this book just that I think I spotted it here on Goodreads, and this is exactly why I love this website so much. I've lost count on how many books I've accidentally stumbled upon, decided to read, and fell in love with—The Girl Who Drank the Moon is, thank heavens, one of those books.

I've missed being this engrossed with a novel to the point of losing sleep 'til four in the morning. But it deserved all my love, time, and attention from the beginning 'til the end. The way it was written - its flow - is really engaging and tugs on my curiousity in just the perfect way. All the characters are SO real. I connected with their sorrow and fear; I felt their hope and, oh, their love! So big and contagious and expanding. I was five chapters in and I already felt inexplicably warm and fuzzy—I think that's what initially hooked me in the first place. "Aaahh, my heart!" pretty much sums it all up.

Thank you for such a lovely book, Kelly Barnhill. I will forever treasure The Girl Who Drank the Moon in my heart.
