I found this book really eye-opening. While it highlighted many issues I was already aware of, it also introduced me to areas I had never considered before.
I think we’ve become so accustomed to being overlooked, ignored, or treated as “non-males” that we’ve come to accept it as the norm. This is exactly why a book like this is so important—because it shouldn’t be that way.
There are a few instances where I think it’s crucial to acknowledge that intersectionality plays a significant role in some of the statistics. It’s not just about being a woman; factors like social class, wealth, race, sexuality, and disability also have a huge impact. While the author did touch on some of these aspects throughout the book, I felt that they were sometimes overlooked.
Overall, this is an excellent read for anyone looking to understand the gaps in data across various aspects of life—from car safety and building design to medicine and language. It really drives home the point that much of our world has been designed with men in mind.
