💬: “Families are messy. Immortal families are eternally messy. Sometimes the best we can do is to remind each other that we're related for better or for worse...and try to keep the maiming and killing to a minimum.”
📖Genres: mythology, action, adventure, middle grade

👩🏾🏫My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5/5
Percy Jackson - The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan is the second book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians middle grade series. The Sea of Monsters has just as much action and adventure as the first book in the series (The Lightning Thief). I like the addition of new characters and the return of familiar characters.
I think Riordan does a good job of taking Greek mythology and making it enjoyable and appropriate for a middle grade/teen audience. There are a few new characters that we get to meet and a few returning characters get more time with the main characters, Percy & Annabeth.
This book was exciting and the twist at the end was top tier. The fatphobia was a disappointment though. Overall, I enjoyed reading this sequel to The Lightning Thief. I'm giving this 4.5 stars out of 5
