just an absolute delight - and i know how overused the phrase is, but this book did indeed feel like a warm hug on a cold autumn day. i picked this up as per my colleague's recommendation, and it is truly such a great meditation on growing up and maintaining your sense of self in an environment as unsure and at times hostile as secondary school. i really enjoyed how characters were presented in line with how children behave - as well as their relationships with each other.

the illustrations were gorgeous and carried exactly the sense of warmth you feel while reading, and especially upon finishing. highly recommend for people looking for that sweet, warm, and quick autumn read!
