Things in the Basement by Ben Hatke

adventurous emotional funny hopeful mysterious sad tense fast-paced

5.0

I love Ben Hatke's art style and character design. This story gave me such a warm feeling inside, even as I was spooked by what lay around the dark corners in Milo's never-ending basement. I love how Hatke crafts his stories and hints at the larger subterranean world. I'd love to go there and make some creepy friends! Also, the scenes in the chapel were gorgeous and softly poignant, and I loved how adorable the goats were. This is one I definitely want to add to my library. For fans of Coraline, This Was Our Pact, and Nobody Likes a Goblin.
