I loved this book so much. The first-person narrator of this coming-of-age story is a 14-ish-year-old girl in a fictional town in the midwest in the 70s. She’s used to being a sidekick, but that’s not holding water for very long. Some parts are twitchy and uncomfortable because the main character feels that way. I loved the girl so much. I thought the author did an excellent job of capturing that weird time of life when you feel like you are growing up, but you don’t know what’s going on, and why does everyone else know? The whole thing was awkward but so beautiful. I’d read it again in a second.
