Vanessa Yu's Magical Paris Tea Shop by Roselle Lim

5.0

I wish I could give this book 7 stars! The premise was very interesting to me — Vanessa Yu was born with the ability to predict the future. She can read tea leaves and her predictions are accurate. While her Auntie Evelyn, another clairvoyant, considers this to be a great gift, Vanessa is haunted by the thought of ruining someone’s life with her predictions. She tries to fight this gift her whole life until she predicts death for the first time.

After a lifetime of rejecting her power, she finally gives in and travels to Paris with her aunt to open a tea shop & receive her training. Paris is magical but as far as her lessons… well, Vanessa didn’t expect it to be easy but she never expected it to be this hard. Paris uncovers old wounds, brings new love, and much more. The more she tries to understand her gift; the more mysteries she & and her aunt seem to uncover. This trip to Paris was meant to change Vanessa’s life… but she has no idea where it will take her.

Such a lovely, sweet book. I love Vanessa & Auntie Evelyn and despite their differences, I want them both to win. You can’t help but root for these women, and feel every emotion alongside them, just as deeply as they do. Lim is an amazing author & I will def be checking out her other work!
