This book had potential, which is why I started reading it, but it’s also a good example of why dual POVs are important and sometimes needed. Unfortunately, this book didn’t have that and its plot points suffered in places because of it.

I was pulled in by the idea of a girl who loses her best friend and finds out that she had actually gotten involved in a pretty serious relationship with her ex boyfriend. I think honestly, this probably could have given us multiple points of view from Becca, Riley, Rae, and Drew and that would have strengthened the story quite a bit.

Once Becca arrives to the cottage and meets Riley, that’s where the story begins to fall flat and some of the plot points become disjointed. While they spent time together, I couldn’t really see where they began to fall in love as that felt incredibly underdeveloped.

The story didn’t really begin to pick up until the last 30% of the book once Drew arrives to give her the letter and shares what really happened between him and Rae, but even that felt a bit rushed. I also don’t quite understand the plot points of her abnormal cells from the Pap smear and Rae’s brother’s sexuality seemingly being dumped on the reader in the last 20% of the book as almost an afterthought or a messy plot point.

I think this had some good potential, but just feel short in the overall development and execution of the story.
