The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
2.0
I was never in a million years going to like this book. I have no clue why I bought it. It is chick-lit to the max and the very opposite of everything I enjoy in a novel. That's not to say that if you like this sort of thing you won't like it, you probably will, but I didn't enjoy it so much. Which if we're honest isn't the author's fault at all.
I disliked both of the main characters. Not intensely, just general apathy I guess, and I wanted to shake both of them for being incredibly dense. This book is full of cliches and stereotypes. There's a spelling error on page 76 which really should have been caught by a proper beta reader.
The one thing I will say even as a hater of this kind of fiction, was that I thought the sex scenes were very well written and fairly sexy. There's a tendency (at least in the books I have read of this type) to make the sex scenes very man-centred even though the protagonist is often a woman. There is plenty of admiring of the male form (in all its cliched muscle) but there's more focus on how the female character feels and experiences and that makes it sexier.
I think if you like this sort of thing you'll like it and if you're me you really shouldn't have bought it in the first place.
