Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin
5.0
First of all, how deeply rude of this author to borrow my private thoughts and use them for this books. (Jokes, of course, but I did find this book very relatable.)
I feel like the thing that really makes this book shine is the very frantic train of thought narrative style. The book’s plot is not particularly intense but it is so deeply immersive in the inner thoughts of someone deeply struggling with anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts.
The other thing that I thought was really well done was the way the character of Gilda was able to identify that her brother, Eli, needs help with his own mental illness, but can be difficult when it comes to accepting help for herself. I think that it can really highlight the way that healing and coping with mental illness can be nonlinear and often times doesn’t make a lot of sense.
