George Orwell's 1984: An Audible Original adaptation by George Orwell

5.0

What I Did Like:
-It’s an important warning. This book takes place in a society that is literally erasing the humanity of its citizens without them knowing. Citizens are actively taking part in the erasure of their humanity daily. The book itself is, ultimately, a warning for all of us if we care to look for the messages.
-Political commentary. I don’t normally love political books, but this one smacks you in the face with important points. I loved the discussion about higher, middle, and lower. I was shocked by the conclusions reached and how they were spouted as perfectly logical. The argument about power left me literally speechless for a minute.

Who Should Read This One:
-If you haven’t, you probably should. 1984 is the strongest example of why people need to push back against totalitarian regimes and speak/think for themselves. It’s a shockingly dark picture of what society could become if humanity becomes complacent.

My Rating: 5 Stars. It’s hard to rate this one because NOT everyone will love it. But that doesn’t negate the fact that everyone should read it in their lifetime. It’s hard, yes. But it’s also important.
