I read this thinking I would enjoy it less than Lord of the Rings as I was never really interested in the Dwarfs.  But in reality, it was not the Dwarfs that reduced the enjoyment but the juvenile nature of the first 3/4.  I did not realise it would read so young compared to the Lord of the Rings, and that it had a lot less detail.  The last 1/4 was written a lot more like Lord of the Rings.  But overall interesting and adventurous.  With the scenes of the Gollum and final battle really engaging.  I just wish the rest was as detailed and wish we have got to know the characters more or the woodland elves at all really.
