The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman

5.0

Would recommend: YES

I really loved this book. I was afraid that the complicated plot would cross the line into convoluted, but no, it held together with delicate, balanced tension. I loved the lighthouse symbolism for protection, illumination, and seclusion, and the language was so beautiful. Be warned: it's definitely sad, but it didn't crush me, like [b:Tell the Wolves I'm Home|12875258|Tell the Wolves I'm Home|Carol Rifka Brunt|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1335450415s/12875258.jpg|18028067] did.

In the beginning, the book reminded me of [b:The Snow Child|11250053|The Snow Child|Eowyn Ivey|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327098624s/11250053.jpg|16176521], but I think it only has passing, superficial resemblance now. This one is more about choices and consequences, I think, whereas the other is about belief. I think that if you like one, you will like the other.
