If I Don't Make It, I Love You: Survivors in the Aftermath of School Shootings by

5.0

If you think this book would be a tough read, rest assured, it is.
I had to put this book down several times while reading. Sometimes out of frustration, other times anger, and many times, sadness.
It makes my heart hurt that there is a book like this. What compounds that sadness is that since 1966, when the first “real” school shooting took place (there were others before this, however), so many lives have been lost, families broken, survivors carrying the tremendous weight of grief and guilt. This has to stop.
Thoughts and prayers are futile. Arming teachers is ridiculous. Better gun control measures need to happen. Improving mental health services is vital.
I hope that another book like this can’t be written. Maybe if some of the above come to fruition, it won’t be.
