I think I just didn't jive with the main characters of this book. Catalina was pretty much fine, but I didn't like Thane and how he pretended not to care and then literally neglected her and then managed to finally get over his grief within 1 week of meeting Catalina. He became obsessive too quickly for my liking, though I'm not sure more pages would have improved the story. I *do* really appreciate the inclusion of neopronouns and the importance of consent on the page. I also think Catalina's perception of harm and how it interacted with the demon contract was an interesting tidbit, especially when she brought up emotional and mental abuse and how those are practically impossible to define. Overall, I think between the cover and content notes, the book is exactly what you might expect.
