Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
3.0
This was my first memoir and as heavy as this was I found it incredibly interesting. As someone who idealized Geisha it really puts into perspective their actual life and not just the glorified historical insight.
This book was so good at giving you an inside look on a real geisha’s life. It is sad, frustrating, and just astounded how “normal” so many messed up things were. How men used them, and they manipulated men, the art of manipulating as a whole to just survive.
It is slow and some points are rather boring but not everyone’s lives can be exciting non stop.
