The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
5.0
Wow.
This book was so much more than I expected. The characters were all so realistic it makes you feel like you know all of them personally. This book is so relevant in our society today and more people need to read this. It's an eye opener to those that have never lived in a place like Starr's and don't understand the struggles of the black community. This story touches so many things deeper than just police brutality and racism. The swearing might be intimidating to those who don't use those words in their regular vocabulary but it's apart of the language and if you can look past that you won't regret it. Definitely the book to read this year.
