Despite the many successful hats Anuri now wears–hairdresser, candle maker, and secret financial dom–the lasting effects of parasocial interactions spur her to take back control of her narrative via litigation. This read like poetry as it examined the roots of her: strained parental relationships (with Nkem & Ophelia), consistent anchors (Loki, Simi, Noelle, extended family), and new paramour (Christian/Chidili). It was perfection how the supporting characters were fleshed out and added weight to the events of ‘before’ and now. One of my most annotated and favorite reads this year!
