A Trail of Crumbs: A Novel of the Great Depression by Susie Finkbeiner
5.0
A Trail of Crumbs leads the reader through the Dust Bowl era from Oklahoma to Wisconsin. The differences in the two regions are brought to light and described well.
The story of Pearl Spence is a hard one, full of difficulties and sorrow, but there were moments of happiness and light that guided Pearl to even a better life.
The ups and downs of her faith and that of her adopted families showed the reality of what can happen when tragedy strikes. People react differently than others, no matter their faith, and sometimes their faith is shattered.
The emotional threads weave well with the spiritual and in the end, the reader will see a brighter future for Pearl.
This is a beautifully written and highly recommended read for anyone who enjoys Christian fiction.
